Sold to the circus from Alexander Aucott on Vimeo.

This is my final MA project from the International Journalism course at Falmouth University, which was filmed in Nepal in August 2011. It was my first attempt at filming and editing a piece like this so I learnt a lot as I went along and look forward to make some more films soon.

The aim of the documentary was to look at the situation of child trafficking from Nepal to India; Why it happens, and what is being done about it. I was helped greatly by a wonderful organisation called The Esther Benjamins Trust, who have worked effectively to put an end to child trafficking into the circus. With their help I was able to talk to Nepalis who had been rescued from the circus as children, as well as those who conducted raids on the circus, and managed to get footage of a raid on a circus in Rajistan, India, which can be seen at the beginning and end of the piece.

If you would like to know any more I kept a separate blog while making this film which can be seen here, and don’t hesitate to leave comments or questions.
